Dear Departed Di,
I don’t know how to handle this situation, can you help?
My friend (36 years old) is getting married and she is wearing WHITE for the
wedding. I know for a FACT that she lived with a man for about three years
several years ago (not the groom), and I am positive they had sex at least
once, maybe several times.

Isn’t it true that wearing white is a privilege that is only extended to
virginal brides, as a reward for saving themselves for marriage?

How can I best tell my friend that she shouldn’t wear white and so embarass
herself on her wedding day?

It’s not true that wearing a white wedding gown is reserved for virgins. White can symbolise purity, but it can also symbolise joy. Brides wore coloured dresses until Queen Victoria made white wedding dresses popular in the 1840s. Your friend is merely a slave to a fashion that’s so 160 years ago.
Sincerely, Diana
